Attunement to it can be strengthened or weakened depending on how much we listen. After long periods of neglect, of being lost in a wilderness of obligations and “shoulds” and offloading decisions to others, we can lose the connection to the feeling inside that says “yes” or “no” or “wait.” Sometimes we walk away from it, and the voice becomes barely audible or completely indecipherable. Why do we walk away? Perhaps one time we listened and the decision resulted in pain. So we stopped listening. As if anyone is right 100% of the time. Intuition can’t compete with the world’s chaos, but who else knows you better? Failure is fresh meat for the intuition: ugly and raw to us, a delicacy for it. How do you find it again? You don’t. It must find you. Sit and wait and block out every noise. And out of the darkness of the body, beyond the light of the mind, you’ll see its glowing eyes watching you, approaching cautiously, one step at a time, returning back to its master.
